We have released our list of the top 20 Destinations for 2008. The list, culled from over 300 destinations worldwide, represents the most popular locations on Pink Choice website.
Provincetown, MA leads a list that includes hotspots such as Fort Lauderdale, Palm Springs, and New York. Whilst there is no surprise that many of the well established US gay travel destinations make the list, it’s evident that gay travelers are increasingly seeking new and exciting hotspots off the well trod gay vacation circuit. Two new destinations that made the list are from down under - Cairns, Australia and Kerikeri, New Zealand.

Wayne Pihlgren of
Skinny Dips Resort and Spa in Cairns commented that “with winter lows of 26C (82F) and balmy summer temperatures of 32C (94F) visitors can swim all year round, explore the magnificent Great Barrier Reef, the world’s oldest rainforests and our unique wildlife and leave boasting a healthy tan.”
Geoff and Chris from the
88 Lodge Luxury Bed and Breakfast in Kerikeri weren’t surprised by its inclusion and commented that “For the gay and lesbian traveler however the biggest attraction has to be the sheer pleasure and freedom of being amongst the friendly and accepting locals. It would be hard to find anywhere in the world that would be more homofriendly than Northland and especially Kerikeri.”
Next month, we will release the prestigious Pink Choice Awards. The award recognizes those hotels, guest houses and inns that have excelled in providing the very best in gay and lesbian accommodation, based on the reviews and ratings made by guests during 2008.
